I have moved! I'm out in Kathleen, GA now. Between Warner Robins
and Perry. So I don't have to go into how much a hassle moving
is. This is all due to my decision to commit. My post may be sporadic
for the next week or so wile Cassidy and I get settled in.

First
day of summer is upon us and I could feel it today. I met Jason
out at the Thomson Trail to do some much needed maintenance
and also built a lip and landing for a Trail Jump. We were soaked,
it had to be 100% humidity. We rode a few partial laps always
hitting the step up / drop off before the creek and the trail
jump we worked on at the end of the trail. Jason just got a
Brand Spankin New Specialized
P. All-Mountain. It has an awsome paint job, is strong and
sturdy. Jason was getting 5 feet off the ground on the new trail
jump and the bike handled flawlessly.
I
have been commuting to work regularly. I even rode my bike home
for lunch on a day I rode to work. I rode a total of +33 miles
that day. I'm just trying to put in as many miles as I can Road
or Dirt.

Ride: Thomson Trail, +10mi
Ok,
so I went to Helen and did not get to participate in any of
the SORBA
Festival Events. This trip was more of a family event for
me this year. My Sister, Brother, and their families stayed
in the same hotel as us. I'm glad I brought my bike. I had
a blast riding the Unicoi
trail both Saturday and Sunday mornins. I would get up
at 5:30 and ride down to the huddle House in down town Helen,GA
and drink Coffee til the Sun came up enough to hit the trail.
I took this MAP
of the old race loop and just kinda followed it. I raced this
loop last year. I had my GPS so I wasn't scared of getting
lost. I did get chased by a dog (with a collar) out on the
trail.

I
have been so slack on posting I don't know where to start.
I will just start with today and work my way back in time.
Today I did yard work and hung out by the pool. I had a busy
day yesterday. I was back out at East
Macon Trail working to get that trail in shape to ride.
I trimmed overgrowth and chopped out a huge leaning tree.
It took me ~ 30 minutes to clear this tree from the trail.
It was a great upper body workout. I had to coax a nice black
snake off the trail so I could pass. - East
Macon Trail Snake Video - I did not have time to ride
after I worked.
Last
Wednesday I attended the OMBA
Meeting at the Thomson factory. I got a chance to ride with
Jason K. before hand. It has been a wile since we have ridden.
He had surgery on both knees. He is riding strong. We hit
the step up and drop off, back before the creek crossing
a couple times. Then as we were on our way thru the rest
of the lap, I jumped a root, slapped my phat thigh with
my seat and broke my seat! This seat and post came on the
bike when I purchased it and have carried my big rear +2000
miles. The seat was a SDG
I-Fly with SDG
I-Beam seat post. I have been wanting to upgrade anyway.
I replaced the post with a Thomson
Elite Silver. The seat was replaced with a seat I cannibalized
off a circa 1995 Giant Bicycle that was thrown out to trash
on the side of the road. After breaking my seat my day was
pretty much done. Jason was kind enough to give me the proper
technique for running the pump section middle row at the
Thomson Dirt Jumps.
So here is the video lesson on pump track technique.

I
have been very busy drawing
lately. I have done some house plans and was requested
to do a Jersey design. I hope to get a free jersey out of
it. I am having to make some extra cheese so I can take
the family to Helen,
GA this coming weekend.
I
totally skipped posting about the Georgia State Championship
Race #4 Dauset
Trails Jackson, Georgia. I did not race but I went and watched.

The next GSC #5 race will be in Chatsworth,
GA (Fort Mountain State Park) June 10th.
National
Trails Day 2007 will be recognized TODAY, bringing together
outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds to celebrate the great natural
heritage of the United States trail system. Traditionally held
each year on the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day
was established to recognize the value of recreational trails
and the people involved in building and maintaining them. Whether
it's the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, or
a volunteer group, trail preservation is necessary to keep our
trails open to the public and available for
years to come. In cities, towns, and communities across the
country, a host of activities have been organized for National
Trails Day 2007, including educational seminars, outdoor workshops,
equipment demonstrations, and trail maintenance work projects.
Get involved with any of these National Trails Day events, or
simply take some time to enjoy a hike, walk, run, or bike ride
on a trail near where you live.
I’m on my way to clear some trees at the East
Macon Trail. Hopefully some one with a Chainsaw will show
up. I’m only going to have an axe and hand saw. I’m
gonna put in a few laps as well.
